Europe Faces the Eagle Eye of US Financial Regulation
(Spring 2005)

The current buzz in European business circles is that EU companies may begin to quit trading on United States exchanges, given the straitjackets of Sarbanes-Oxley statutes and Securities & Exchange Commission rules, the firming up of the dominance of US accounting rules (through a strengthened Financial Accounting Standards Board and rigorous enforcement of the audit process by the new Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. (And more! Don't overlook NYSE and NASDAQ listed company rules, etc.)

Major US media reported recently that prominent German companies are considering withdrawing from NYSE listings (for example).

We provide European-based directors and corporate managers with a view from America on the recent corporate governance reforms -- continuing, and building momentum, given the importance of Section 404 -- in this article in the widely-read EBF.
